Before 06 August 1873 20-year-old Mary Cracknall Wright had given birth to a baby. She was the daughter of the landlord of the Queen's Head Inn. She had slit the throat of her newborn twice and hid the body between the mattress and bed in her room in Bradwell, England. When asked she admitted to killing the child and that she had also planned to kill herself by slicing her own throat. A corners jury returned with a verdict of Willful murder.
