The Birmingham Mummy

 

He was likely was a warrior that died between 1975 BC or 1640 BC. He was between 25 to 35-years-old. He had been shot by an arrow, from the front, into the soft tissues of his neck. The arrow struck the right infratemporal fossa, this did not cause immediate death. The wound would get infected and he would get a muscle spasm that induced torticollis. Torticollis or wryneck causes the twisting of muscles of the neck to rotate and tilt at an angle. It's likely he lived for a short while after his injury until the infection killed him. His Torticollis was not fixed during the mummification process.

End Of Watch: Sheriff Nimrod Johnson

37-year-old Sheriff Nimrod Johnson was Sheriff for Burnet County Sheriff in Texas he worked for them 4 years. On August 26, 1881, he left to arrest W.P. Brown who was a murder suspect of a murder that happened in Feb 1876. He was reported to be near Paul's Valley in Indian Territory(modern Oklahoma).

Shortly after Sheriff Miller traveled to Austin, Texas. He had been robbed but was able to recover his money. On August 30th he left Sherman, Texas and he made it to Dennison, Texas by September 1st. He was last seen alive at Caddo, Indian Territory. He was trying to purchase a horse to travel to Paul's Valley.

His nephew went to search for him, but could not find him. It wasn't until later when an Arkansas prisoner, Sam Paul, confessed he witnessed what had happened to the Sheriff. He stated that in Chickasaw county that he was ambushed and killed with arrows. After this information, they still weren't able to recover the body.

The Porsmose Man

In 1946 the body of Porsmose Man was discovered near Næstved, Denmark in a bog. Unlike other bog bodies, he was not mummified and was a skeleton. The man was 35-40-years-old and had died around 2600 BCE. It was obvious he had a brutal end.

He had been murdered as an arrow had entered through his nose. This was not likely the arrow that killed him as another arrow was found in his chest. The killer was up at an angle above the man at close range. It could be possible that it was execution or ambush to kill the man.

It's unknown who the Porsmose Man is or why he was killed. This will remain a mystery lost to time.
