MISSING: Sheila Fox
On 18 August 1944 around 4 p.m. 6-year-old Sheila Fox was seen leaving her school in Farnworth, Lancashire, England. Companions of Shiela would state that they would see the girl with a man with a bike outside of a bakery. Some accounts say she was on his upturned handlebars others said she was walking with him.
One witness claimed they had talked with Sheila while she was with the man. Sheila told this person that she was "going with the man". This behavior would have been strange for the shy girl if she did not initially know or was comfortable with the man.
Sheila's parents had initially hoped that she would return home. They did not want to believe that their daughter had met with some sort of foul play and instead had gone to London to meet friends. According to neighbors later they changed their mind and acknowledged that something had happened to their daughter.
The Man was described as being a well-dressed, clean-shaven male with a slim build between 25 to 30-years-old.
In 2001 a man who was 13-years-old at the time of the disappearance came to the police and told them he suspected his neighbor had hurt Sheila. He had seen him around that time digging in his garden. The garden was dug up, but there was no evidence. It was found out the suspected neighbor had been convicted of rape in 1950 and in the 1960's child rape. The man was deceased by then and his son stated he had no knowledge of anything requiring a police search. It's unknown if he had anything to do with Sheila's disappearance.
Sheila is a white female and was 6-years-old at the time. She was wearing a blue-flowered frock, a green coat, stockings and shoes, and pink bows in her hair.

MISSING: Mary Flanagan
On December 31, 1959, 16-year-old Mary Flanagan overslept but told her parents she was going to work that afternoon. She would leave her home in Newham, England at lunchtime. She was never seen again after this. She was supposed to go to a New Year's Eve party her work was having.
Mary's family contacted her workplace, a local firm, to see if she had worked that day. It had turned out that even though Mary was pretending to leave each morning for work she was had not been there for 2 weeks. They had thought Mary was sick and that was why she wasn't showing up.
Her family thinks it's possible that she eloped with a possible fiance. They think that he may have been an Irish laborer who worked with the merchant Navy. His name was Tom with possible last names McGinty, McEntee, or McGuiness this man could not be located in the Merchant Navy though.
The night before the 31st Mary mentioned she was going to break up with her boyfriend. They had an argument over him lying to her. He had told her that he lived with a landlady when in fact it was his mother.
It's also possible that Mary was pregnant at the time and disappeared because of it. She was a Catholic and nay not know how to tell her family.
Mary is a white female and was 16-years-old at the time. She's 165 cm or 5'4". She has brown wavy hair and hazel eyes. She has an olive complexion.

MISSING: Leila Lewis Bryan and Mary Rachel Bryan
At 9 p.m. Leila left with Mary. She initially was going to go out to buy groceries or a bra down the street. She brought Mary Rachel with her because she insisted on going with her. For some reason, she left her rings on the sink. At the time she was driving her husband's black 1935 Ford Model A coupe with 1941 North Carolina License plate number 219-056.
E.C. had gone to bed while she was gone. Later that night Barry Lewis, Leila's brother, and one of his friends came over to the home. He asked E.C. where the girls were. E.C. said they never came home from their trip. Barry and his friend went out to search for his sister and niece. They couldn't find them.
E.C. called the police and reported the girls missing. This was when the community and police joined the search. The search included the beach, waterways, and wooded areas. The car was low in gas when she left so it was possible that she went to get gas. One station attendant reported that they saw a woman around 10 and they were pretty sure it was her. This tip led nowhere though.
The car was never recovered and the two were declared dead in 1948. Police did not believe that Leila left on her own accord. It could be possible that the girls met foul play and she and Mary Rachel were dead.
Police suspected Leila's husband for their disappearance. They suspected that he killed his wife and daughter and then buried their bodies. It was initially believed that they were buried under their concrete basement floor at the beach cottage on Raleigh Ave., but it was dug up in 2009 and remains were not found. It's possible their bodies were buried elsewhere though if it was him.
Leila may be spelled as Lela is a white female and was 36-years-old at the time. She was 5'7" to 5'8" and 120 lbs. She has black hair and grey eyes. She was wearing a summer print housedress with a green turban, possibly a sweater and white and brown shoes.
Mary Rachel is a white female and was 4 at the time. She was 3'0" and 40 lbs at the time. She has dark brown hair and brown eyes.

MISSING: Moira Anderson
On Feb. 23, 1957, 11-year-old Moira Anderson left her grandmothers Coatbridge, Scotland home to go one an errand for her grandmother. She was supposed to go and buy a birthday card and butter for her mother's birthday. This was unfortunately during one of the worst snowstorms that the area knew.
Two years later Janet, Moira's sister, was out on her lunch break from school. A man working under his hood asked her to hold his dipstick. While holding it the man groped her and she ran from him, but not before taking note of his registration plate. She reported it to the school and they called the cops. This caused the school to ask students to pair up if they leave.
Nothing was done of this incident, but it was later found out the man was Alexander Gartshore. At the time Alexander Gartshore was out on bail for raping his young babysitter. He was also the bus driver of the bus Moira was last seen on.

Murder of Thora Afton Chamberlain
Her classmates saw her speaking for several minutes to a man in a vehicle. One of the witnesses said he was dressed like an ex-serviceman and was looking for a babysitter for his sister's children. She got into the vehicle with him presumably to take the babysitting job. She was never seen again.
Thomas Henry McGonigle was immediately a suspect in Thora's disappearance. He had an arrest record dating back to his teens including assault and intent to commit rape. When he found that they suspected him he fled to his father's home in Illinois. On December 6, 1945, he returned to San Fransisco, California by bus. He tried to attempt suicide on the bus by taking sleeping pills. He tried to overdose but recovered after treatment at the hospital.
Several classmates and witnesses Identified him as the man she left with. It was found he was wearing stolen Navy-issue clothes and military medals and was not an ex-serviceman. He said he had found the clothing in a footlocker he'd stolen. The footlocker was later found in his garage.
He claimed responsibility for Thora's abduction and murder. He had various different statements about how Thora was killed. He claimed he had stabbed her, strangled her, fell out of his car, shot her, and that her death was accidental and he that he also didn't kill her.
It's more likely he shot her in his car. He'd claimed he shot her accidentally and because she bled on the padding and upholstery he tore it out. He told the FBI where he had buried it and they found it and it was stained with her blood.
There was also a bullet hole in the door of his car. He'd claimed to have removed it and buried it under a tree in his yard. The FBI found it and determined it had been fired from his .32-caliber Colt Revolver.
Not only did he give different statements on how he killed her he did the same with how he disposed of her. He'd said he had thrown her body off the 350 ft cliff known as the Devil's Slide. It overlooks Half Moon Bay on the San Mateo County coast. two pairs of red and blue socks were found wedged in two different crevices partway down the cliff face that belonged to Thora.
At the time he had been working at a construction site and got permission from his boss to fill a ditch with concrete blocks. Inside the ditch were Thora's shoes, schoolbooks, papers, binder, and cowbell. He told them he buried her clothes in his yard, but they turned up nothing.
More than likely she rejected his sexual advances and she was killed. He tossed her body off Devil's Slide and her body was possibly carried out to sea.
Mcgonigle confessed to another murder as he was on death row for Thora's. He didn't get charged due to begin on death row. At one point he claimed to have killed 11 people, but those murders couldn't be verified. Before his execution from the gas chamber in 1948, he retracted his statement. He claimed to have been innocent of all involvement in Thora's disappearance.
Thora is a white female and was 14-year-old at the time of her disappearance. She was 5'2" and around 120 lbs. She had brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing Garbarand coat, white blouse, red skirt, blue sweater, and two pairs of socks one being red and one being blue, and tan shoes.
