MONSTERS: Mbwiri

 The Mbwiri is a Central African demon that possesses people. The person who is possessed is usually the only one who knows that they are possessed. It's said that they target those who aren't living well. People who are possessed by the Mbwiri are usually diagnosed with epilepsy by a doctor.

In order to get rid of the Mbwiri a shaman is called. A hut is built and the afflicted, the shaman, and their assistants will live here till they are cured. For ten days or a fortnight, these people will eat, drink, and dance to the music of flute and drum at the expense of the patient's family. The patient would then dance until the epileptic fits come on. It's said the Mbwiri would hate the good living their victim was having and flee the body. When cured they would then build a fetish house and then avoids certain foods and performs certain duties. Sometimes they don't get cured and are engulfed in madness or runs away to the bush.

Serial Killers: Hadj Mohammed Mesfewi

Hadj Mohammed Mesfewi who was described as an old man was a shoemaker and public letter writer in Marrakesh, Morroco. He and an accomplice 70-year-old woman named Rahali (Annah) would invite Morrish young women over for dinner. They would then put a narcotic in the food that would cause them to pass out. While asleep he would murder the women by beheading them, rob them, and bury 26 under his home and 10 more on his property.

It was noticed in April of 1906 many women were going missing. One of the women was traced to the cobbler shop. They decided to torture information from Rahali she admitted that they drugged and killed the women. She would die from the torture, but everything she stated turned out to be true. Hadj would then confess to the murders.

He was supposed to be executed on May 2, 1906, by crucifixion, but foreign diplomats found that to be too brutal. He would be whipped daily until June 11, 1906. He would be walled up and left to die inside. It would take two days for him to die on June 13, 1906.

Murder of Ginger (Gebelein Man)

There were 6 bodies found in the Gebelein, Egypt dating around 3400 BC. They were excavated in the late 1800s by Wallis Budge. At this time that mummification Egypt is known for wasn't developed. The mummies were naturally mummified by being placed in a shallow grave in direct contact with hot and dry sand that would absorb the body's liquids. They were in a curled, fetal position because that was common practice at the time. One of the more notable mummies in this excavation was the Gebelein Man or Ginger as he was a murder victim.

Ginger was around 18 to 21-years-old when he died. He had notable red hair that was preserved with his body and this gave him his nickname. After some infrared scans on the body, it was found that he had a tattoo of a figure that looked like a smudge without the scan. Which may have been the oldest preserved tattoo of figures.

Through analysis, it was determined that he had had been murdered. He had injuries that coincided with a deliberate assault. His shoulder blade was damaged and the rib underneath shattered likely from a stab wound. He was likely surprised by the attack as he had no defensive wounds. The weapon used was a copper or flint blade at least 5 inches long.

His body is currently at the British Museum in London, England.
