MISSING: Adele Marie Wells

 

On November 21, 1958, in Flint, Michigan 7-year-old Adele Marie Wells stayed home from school due to a cold. The second-grader decided to walk to her school, Jefferson Elementary School, that afternoon. She stopped at her grandmother's house around 11:30 to show her how nicely her mother did her hair. Her grandmother only lived a couple of blocks from the school and when she left it was the last time anyone had seen Adele. She never arrived at school.

There had been a report that day of a light-skinned African American man carrying a girl to a dirty Chevrolet. The man was reported to have been wearing a gray coat and red socks. It has not been confirmed that this was Adele's abductor. Other children who attended her school said that a driver with the same description of the car tried luring them into it.

Adele is an African American female and was 7 at the time of her disappearance. She was 3'6 and 50 lbs. She wore her black hair with bangs with waves on the side and had brown eyes. She was wearing a gray cotton coat, a blue dress with small animals along the hem, red knee socks, and black shoes.

MISSING: Lorenzo "Lenchito" Vazquez Lazalde

 

3-year-old Lorenzo "Lenchito" Vazquez Lazalde was last seen in Juárez, Mexico in 1954. His mother stated that Lorenzo was outside playing at a relative's home when he went missing. There was a rumor that relatives whisked him away to El Paso or California. That he died in an accident in Juárez. Another was that someone lured him to a bus by using his nickname Lenchito. None of these rumors were confirmed by the family.

I have little information in this case. I don't speak any language other than English and I do not have the ability to find Spanish sources. If anyone reading has found other sources for this case as in him being found or more information on this case please link below.

MISSING: Cecilia and Leo Payash

 

On July 1, 1957, 47-year-old Cecilia Payash and her son 8-year-old Leo were walking down Red Lake Rd in Red Lake, Ontario along the railway line. The two were never seen again. 

Cecilia is First Nations and was 47-years old at the time. She was 4'11 and described as having a thin build. She had black hair and brown eyes. She has a hooked nose. At the time Cecilia was carrying $30. 

Leo is First Nations and was 8-years-old at the time. He was 4' and was described as having a thin build. He has black hair and brown eyes. At the time he had a bad eye infection in his left eye and it was nearly swollen shut from it. 

It's not stated whether or not foul play is suspected in this case.

MISSING: Elsie Mae Roane

 

16-year-old Elsie Mae Roane was last seen around 11 p.m. on May 20, 1957, by a police officer. She was walking down the road with two suitcases in West Point, Virginia. At the time she was living with her adoptive father on Fith Street.

It took her father a few days to realize she was missing. Their schedules sometimes allowed them to miss each other as he worked nights and arrived home when she was at school. He reported her missing three days after she was last seen.

At the time she was a sophomore and was an above-average student at West Point High School. She was described as shy kind and intelligent. She is considered an endangered runaway. In 2015 Authorities announced they have a suspect in the case who was the same age as Elsie and they've interviewed him several times.

Elsie is a white female and was 16 at the time. She's 5'8" to 5'9" and 115 lbs at the time. She has brown hair that was short at the time and blue eyes. She was possibly pregnant at the time. She also wears glasses.

MISSING: Leila Lewis Bryan and Mary Rachel Bryan

On May 10, 1941 mother and daughter 36-year-old Leila Bryan and 4-year-old Mary Rachel Bryan went to the beach. They arrived back at their Carolina Beach, North Carolina home at 6:30 p.m. She started dinner. At the time her husband Edis Clarence Bryan or E.C. was making plans to pour a concrete floor in the basement.

At 9 p.m. Leila left with Mary. She initially was going to go out to buy groceries or a bra down the street. She brought Mary Rachel with her because she insisted on going with her. For some reason, she left her rings on the sink. At the time she was driving her husband's black 1935 Ford Model A coupe with 1941 North Carolina License plate number 219-056.

E.C. had gone to bed while she was gone. Later that night Barry Lewis, Leila's brother, and one of his friends came over to the home. He asked  E.C. where the girls were. E.C. said they never came home from their trip. Barry and his friend went out to search for his sister and niece. They couldn't find them.

E.C. called the police and reported the girls missing. This was when the community and police joined the search. The search included the beach, waterways, and wooded areas. The car was low in gas when she left so it was possible that she went to get gas. One station attendant reported that they saw a woman around 10 and they were pretty sure it was her. This tip led nowhere though.

The car was never recovered and the two were declared dead in 1948. Police did not believe that Leila left on her own accord. It could be possible that the girls met foul play and she and Mary Rachel were dead.

Police suspected Leila's husband for their disappearance. They suspected that he killed his wife and daughter and then buried their bodies. It was initially believed that they were buried under their concrete basement floor at the beach cottage on Raleigh Ave., but it was dug up in 2009 and remains were not found. It's possible their bodies were buried elsewhere though if it was him.

Leila may be spelled as Lela is a white female and was 36-years-old at the time. She was 5'7" to 5'8" and 120 lbs. She has black hair and grey eyes. She was wearing a summer print housedress with a green turban, possibly a sweater and white and brown shoes.

Mary Rachel is a white female and was 4 at the time. She was 3'0" and 40 lbs at the time. She has dark brown hair and brown eyes.

MISSING: Moira Anderson

On Feb. 23, 1957, 11-year-old Moira Anderson left her grandmothers Coatbridge, Scotland home to go one an errand for her grandmother. She was supposed to go and buy a birthday card and butter for her mother's birthday. This was unfortunately during one of the worst snowstorms that the area knew.

She was last seen around 5:15 p.m. on the bus by a couple. Police believed that the girl was abducted while traveling home on the bus and murdered. Her body was never found.

Two years later Janet, Moira's sister, was out on her lunch break from school. A man working under his hood asked her to hold his dipstick. While holding it the man groped her and she ran from him, but not before taking note of his registration plate. She reported it to the school and they called the cops. This caused the school to ask students to pair up if they leave.

Nothing was done of this incident, but it was later found out the man was Alexander Gartshore. At the time Alexander Gartshore was out on bail for raping his young babysitter. He was also the bus driver of the bus Moira was last seen on. 

When his daughter, Saundra Brown, was older she wrote a book Where There is Evil about suspecting him of killing young Moira. At one point he when she was bringing up his shortcomings as a father he told her that his father thought he killed Moira. That his father tried to convince him to go to the police to admit where Moira's body was. He said he didn't know the girl, but was the last person to talk to her. It wasn't a confession, but his own father was convinced he had done something to the girl. His own daughter even believed so. 

He died in 2006. He was a suspect before his death but wasn't prosecuted due to a lack of evidence. But in total it isn't really known what had happened that snowy night. 

Moira is a white female and was 22 at the time. He's 5'3" and 113 lbs. She was wearing a fawn-colored kilted Burberry coat, a blue winter scarf, a blue jumper, a lemon-colored cardigan, a thick tweed skirt, fawn socks, brown shoes and a navy-blue woolen pixie hat with red bands.

Missing Child: Melvin Charles Horst

On the afternoon of December 27, 1928 4-year-old Melvin Horst was playing with four neighborhood friends. They were playing at a vacant lot off of Chestnut St. in Orville, Ohio. The area was near the railroad tracks. At some point, Melvin decided to walk home alone because he only lived a block away. He was carrying his small red truck a gift he got on Christmas.

At 4:30 Zora decided to call him home from dinner and sent her oldest out to search for him at his friend's homes. He was not found.  He must have at least made it to his front yard as it was found his truck. They waited till his father Raymond got home and they searched the neighborhood at 6 p.m.

By 7 the police helped and they initiated the search at 8:30. The search was led by Roy who was Raymond's brother and village marshal. It was hoped that Melvin was mistaken as a child of a wealthy family and a ransom would come, but it never did.

Some theorize that his disappearance was to deal with Roy. The prohibition was going on at the time and Roy was zealous at getting bootleggers and enforcing liquor laws making several enemies. He was living with the family at the time and one of the bootleggers decided to get revenge. This included Elias Arnold and his children William, Arthur, and Dorthy McHenry and Dorthy's husband Bascom.

On Jan 2. 1929, the group was arrested for Melvin's disappearance. Elias had been in jail for the most part of 1928 and had a grudge against Roy. Later Charles "Junior" Hannah Elias 8-year-old nephew and a 9-year-old friend of Junior claimed to have seen Melvin go into the Arnold's house. Elias and Arthur were convicted and spent three months in jail when they realized the children had lied.

In 1930 Junior admitted that his father Charles Hannah and a neighbor Earl Conold had told him to lie. He said that they had killed Melvin and told the children to lie about seeing Melvin going to the Arnold's home. The men confessed, but it was coerced by Law Enforcement.

Some believe that it could be possible he was hit by a car and his body hid. That he was kidnapped and murdered. Or someone kidnapped him to raise as their own. None of these theories could be confirmed though.

Melvin was 4 years old at the time. He was 3'1" and 49 lbs. He had blue eyes and brown hair. He has a jagged burn scar on his hip. He was described as having an upturned nose and stocky build. He was wearing a checked sweater, a brown overcoat, and a stocking cap.

MISSING: Ricky "Jeanie" Bryant

On December 19, 1949, 4-year-old Ricky Bryant who went by Jeanie was home with two of her siblings and grandparents in Mauston, Wisconsin. One of her siblings were at school at the time and her parents were out of the house as her grandparents watched. That was when a fire broke out in the home.

Her brother who was 5 at the time said that Jeanie was standing in the yard with him. During the fire, a woman drove up in an expensive car and she got out of the car. She distracted Jeanie's brother by telling him they needed to get help and pointed down the street. Leaving Jeanie alone. When her brother returned Jeanie was gone.

The grandmother contradicted and said that only two of the three siblings had gotten out of the house. That Jeanie had still been inside and when the Grandmother went in she couldn't find her. She called out to Jeanie and got no response.

Most authorities believe that Jeanie had died in the fire, but being that there was nobody and the bone fragments found couldn't conclusively be determined to Jeanies they've opened a case. Her siblings think it's possible that the fire was on purpose and that Jeanie was taken and hidden by family members, or that it was possible she may have had a different father and was sent to live with her biological father.

Jeanie was 4 at the time and is a white female. She was 3'4" and 40 lbs. He had blonde hair and hazel eyes.

MISSING: Myrisha Faye and AJ Campbell

 Myrisha Faye Campbell circa 1958 and age-progressed to 57

A.J. Campbell jr. circa 1958 and age-progressed to 54

3-year-old Myrisha Faye Campbell and her little brother 11-month-old A.J Campbell jr were picked up by their father A.J. Campbell sr. on September 6, 1958, from their home in Goliad, Texas. Their father claimed that he just wanted to take them out for a ride during one of his scheduled court-ordered visitations. He took them at 9:00 a.m. and was supposed to return with them at 3 p.m., but the children never returned home

Jewel and A.J. sr. had been married for 8 years and throughout the marriage A.J. sr was abusive towards Jewel. So eventually had left A.J. sr. and had taken the children with her. She had supported them by taking a teaching job in Goliad, Texas.

William Randal jr. was the only other person to last see the children alive. William Randal and A.J. sr. picked up the children together in Randal’s 2- door pink and charcoal-gray 1955 Chevrolet Tudor. The had went through Cuero and Gonzales, Texas and picked up two large cans of lard. When they were 3 miles out of Goliad A.J. sr. said he needed to go see a friend and Randal had gotten out of vehicle leaving the children alone with A.J. sr.

30 to 40 minutes later A.J. sr. returned with none of the children in sight. He had claimed that he had gotten into a fight with his brother-in-law and had left the children with another relative. Randal noticed that A.J. sr was acting nervous and agitated. A.J. sr. even asked if there was blood on him and warned Randal not to tell anyone about the fight. A.J sr. and Randal had driven to Austin Texas and separated promising to meet at a bus stop at midnight the next day to return the car. A.J. sr. never arrived causing Randal to ride the bus back home and reported his car stolen.

On September 7, A.J. sr. called a minister in Fort Worth, Texas. He had implied to the minister that he had killed the children by telling him that they were “at rest with the world” and that he was going to kill himself. Which he had followed through with when his body was found in Randal’s car on a road near Austin. It was ruled a suicide because he shot himself in the head with a 16- gauge shotgun.

A suicide note was found addressed to Jewel. In the note, he admitted he had buried both of the children. He also stated that he loved the children and that he still loved Jewel. He wished her happiness. His note did not indicate where he had buried the children or their whereabouts.

Jewel remarried afterward and took the last name Robertson, and had two more children. Jewel passed away in 2013, but her two other children are still actively looking for A.J. jr and Myrisha. They believe that there might be a chance that A.J. sr. had sold or given the children away instead of killing them.

Myrisha was 3 years old white female with dark blonde hair and blue eyes. She was 2’6 and 28 pounds. Myrisha was last seen wearing a pink dress with puffed sleeves and a Peter Pan collar, pink socks, and white buckle shoes.

A.J. Jr. was 11 months old he is a white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was 2’2 and 25 lbs. He has a birthmark on his eyelid and a birthmark below his lower lip. His fingers were also clubbed at the ends. A.J was last seen wearing a light blue and white checkered shirt with a dark blue collar and a yellow diaper with a clear plastic liner over it.

MISSING: Richard David "Pee Wee" Marlow

On July 18, 1944, 9-year-old Richard "Pee Wee" Marlow and his older brother decided to stay home as the rest of the family went to the movies. Richard decided to stay home because he went to the movies the day before. He was playing outside on his bike in front of his home in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. His older brother was keeping an eye on him from inside the house. This was when he went missing, and his bike was still in the yard.

It's believed that someone abducted the 9-year-old. He came from a good home and it was seen as he had no reason to run away. He was a bright and shy kid. He was known to even get to school early. He would never talk to strangers let alone go into a dark room by himself. Making it unlikely he ran away.

Richard is a white male and was 9 at the time. He was 3'8" to 4'0" and 50 lbs. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a scar on the right temple. He was wearing a striped jersey, blue pants, grey socks with a yellow band, a dark blue nylon windbreaker and a ring "KL" aluminum.

Missing: Mary Agnes Moroney

2-year-old Mary Agnes Moroney's parents were desperate for help as they were pregnant with their second child. In early 1930 they put an ad in the social worker column. They thought their prayers were answered when a woman supposedly named Julia Otis arrived and helped them out with food and needed items.

On May 15, 1930, the woman came back to their Chicago, Illinois home and was welcomed inside. She had wanted to buy a dress for Mary and the parents trusted Julia so they allowed her to take her to the corner store. She never returned with the child though and the next day she sent a letter to the parents. They knew they'd never see their daughter again.

Julia stated that she was taking Mary to California and the parents could spare a few months without her. Two weeks later another letter arrived where she pretended to be a cousin named Alice Henderson saying she was mourning the loss of her own child. That she was "love-hungry" and was keeping Mary. 

Her story became known across America as Newspapers picked up the story. This did not bring Mary home and she never got to meet her little sister who was born two months later on July 11th. She may have been raised as the mystery woman's child.

Mary was a 2-year-old white female at the time. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. She was 3 ft and 20 lbs. She had a strawberry birthmark on her face and a scar on her stomach from a hernia. She was also left-handed.
